The Dapper Creative team strives to implement cost effective, proven technologies and best practices in our software development projects for our clients. Although each software development project is different we have provided some information on how open source technologies and frameworks can assist in these projects below. Open Source Technologies
We at Dapper Creative believe in and understand the benefits of implementing open source technologies in the development of applications where appropriate. While there are many arguments for and against adopting open source technologies we ultimately believe that if the adoption of these technologies can provide more value to our clients compared to not adopting them then we will strongly push the use of such technologies to our clients. Some of these benefits may include but are not limited to:
- Reducing the total cost of ownership of the application for the client. If the application is built on proprietary technologies then there may be ongoing and/or one-time licensing fees.
- Open source technologies are generally revised over time and new features and bug fixes can become readily available to our customers with planned and tested upgrades.
- Open source web templates can also be customised for our clients. Utilising these templates will reduce our design time compared to designing a new template from scratch. Alternatively, you can approach us to search and offer a few templates that you can choose from.
Frameworks and Design Patterns
Application frameworks allow developers to build applications on top of existing and working software code. Frameworks are generally based on design patterns which are repeatable solutions to commonly occurring problems in application development. Adopting frameworks and design patterns offer benefits to our clients including but are not limited to:
- Reducing the overall cost of developing the application. By utilising proven frameworks we can focus on developing the unique aspects of your application and reuse working code for common application tasks (i.e. managing database connections, session management, caching etc...).
- Provide our clients with better performing, scalable, secure, robust and maintainable applications. Employing proven frameworks allows us to reuse the expertise of the framework developers and architects.
